UAW LOCAL 2147 HISTORY
UAW Local 2147 was chartered on May 5, 1980. At that time the only members of the Local Union were engineers and related job functions. On November 16, 1988, the Local became amalgamated when the Office and Clerical employees voted to organize. At this time, the Local Union was at its highest level of employment with a total of 211 members. On May 4, 1992 the Production Planners voted to organize. This increased the Local Union by 14 members.
After a series of cutbacks in the Defense Industry from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, the present membership of UAW Local 2147 stands at 73. This includes 21 Office and Clerical Unit members and 52 Engineering and Technical Unit Members.
